WASHINGTON D.C. -- The number of guns made in the U.S. continues to skyrocket, according to a study released Monday from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Since January 2009, the total number of firearms made in the U.S. nearly doubled — from 5.5 million to nearly 10.9 million, according to the annual study.
The report examines the number of federally licensed firearms dealers and manufacturers, as well as the number of imported and exported firearms and explosives.

American Gun Owners own 200+ million guns and 12 trillion rounds of ammo. If we were as violent as we are portrayed by limp wristers, they'd damn sure know it...
For the record: "The total number of firearms" as listed by Government has always been the total number since NICS went on line in the 1990's. NOT the actual numbers in "civilian" hands. If one factors in only 50% of the total domestic production and imports since 1960 the possible number of firearms in civilian hands would exceed 800 million . World wide production since the end of WW1 would exceed ONE TRILLION firearms of all types. Ammunition amounts in "civilian" hands cannot be known. But considering that ammunition from every country involved in "war production" for the last 75 years is found in quantity though out the us , and considering the vast amount "horded" by Americans the numbers almost certainly exceed 25 trillion rounds of ammunition in civilian hands. Government has a vested interest in "downsizing" the total number of weapons / ammo that "domestic terrorist" have in their possession for obvious reasons. They don't want the "bitter clingers" to have a clue as to how powerful or well armed they really are. As of today the People of The United States of America constitute the largest armed force in the history of man. Just the registered hunters constitute a force greater than all the army's and police forces of the world COMBINED. That is WHY the communist's and the UN want us disarmed so badly. ---Ray
