Choosing a Hunting Optic on A Budget
When it comes to hunting choosing a hunting optic on a budget is never easy. A solid optic can work wonders but finding the right one can be difficult. An optic allows the user to make more accurate, more precise shots. They also allow users to scan and scout at a distance greater than what their eyes can see. Scopes can benefit all shooters, especially those with poor eyesight. With the thousands of scope options out there, there are some in every budget range. These scopes can run from 10 dollars to 10 thousand. However, since hunting is typically a hobby it’s a sport we budget for.
Thus, it is completely understandable if you are not pursuing the highest quality and most expensive scopes, but are looking good enough scope, with a decent price that just gets the job done.

It has been my experience that a good scope will cost as much as the rifle. The only reason to buy a high end scope is if you have a seriously accurate high end gun to wear it.
ReplyDeleteOr...that's the way it USED to be. I'm an old fart. Today...there are some really, really good optics out there and they don't cost an arm and a leg. Since you wouldn't put a Nightforce on a chit house deer rifle...anything by Leupold, Nikon, Burris, etc etc - will do well. 500~700 bucks will basically get you a scope that will last the casual hunter a lifetime.
If you are gonna spend some serious time on the range they may even cover that...but I step up to Swarovski and Zeiss for my target guns. And - Trijicon is making some stellar scopes these days. If ya got the cash, that is probably the best mass produced scope out there right now. Just my two bits, your mileage may vary...
